I play with Minneapolis ska/reggae/jazz band The Skruffians. I cop the drum styles of my childhood heroes Lloyd Knibb, Carlton Barrett, Sly Dunbar and Style Scott, while keeping it open. The 7- or 8-piece band does the classic Jamaican ska of the Skatalites, plus horn-driven ska originals and other dancing/listening music.
