President Flow splits the spigot at Jazz Central Studios on Monday, March 16. The quintet features dual tenor saxophonists up front: Joe Mayo and Peter Vircks, adept reed squeezers with unique styles, thick data banks and altruistic attitudes. Guitarist Park Evans brings hot isotopic string and alluring electric soundscapes. Bassist Josh Granowski can and may play almost anything, including Minneapolis's most compelling quarter notes. Rick Nair tries desperately to pull rhythmic marrow from a two-piece drum kit. President Flow's proprietary colloidal blend smells like midcentury, free jazz, captive funk, Cuban missiles and urban creation mythology. Set of originals and more at 8:30 sharp.
